You’ve been on your career path for a long time.
It’s taken you to many of the places you wanted to get to, professional and financial success, and the lifestyle you say you always wanted.
But somethings off, somethings not right.
Yet, you feel:
- Lost
- Adrift
- Like a boat without a rudder (I’ve heard this phrase more times than expected).
The desire for direction grows stronger as the time ahead of you becomes less than the time behind you.
You want to know why the hell you’re here (it’s not to stare at spreadsheets) and where you’re ultimately going.
Here are 3 simple strategies if you’re feeling like a boat without a rudder:
Journaling:
We lack direction because we don’t know who we are, who we want to be, and where we want to go.
The direction you seek comes from within, and journaling is the greatest tool for self-discovery.
Grab a pen and paper and let it rip.
Establish & Embody Your Core Values:
If you don’t know what you stand for, what do you have to stand on?
Without core values, you’ll remain afloat, drifting in the sea of life without a rudder.
Core values are your North Star on your personal journey. They remain constant and provide direction through life’s ever-changing landscapes.
Stop Chasing & Start Creating:
Specifically, stop chasing external markers of success and turn inward.
Because if external markers worked, why do you feel lost?
Examine your journaling, and examine your core values.
What are the themes and patterns that come up?
What is something you’ve always wanted to do but are afraid to do?
Go do that.
